Visit the Dallas World Aquarium

Have you been exhausting yourself with endless searches for a peaceful and serene place to spend the weekend with your family? Well, if you are a nature lover, you are in luck! The Dallas World Aquarium is one of those places you can visit every weekend of the year and still expect to be marveled the next time you are there. Fascinating right? This is a place that is conducive for both children and adult visitors. Regardless of your age, it is a guarantee that you will have the time of your life!

World class aquarium

The Dallas World Aquarium is separated into upper and lower levels. The upper level is made into a rain forest which is an aviary hosting all kind of birds and a variety of tamarins, crocodiles and frogs. The lower level hosts aquaria full of fish and all sorts of sea animals. This lower level has up to 10 tanks which are a representative of the variety of aquatic life world over. You will find aquatic life from Fiji, Lord Howe Island, Bahamas, Sri Lanka, Solomon Islands, Japan and a couple more places well represented here.

Mind boggling under- tank tunnel

For an amplified experience, the visitors get a first hand field of vision underneath 12 meters deep under- tank tunnel. This tank is designed in a manner to give a state of the art view of a diverse fish species that have been collected all around the world. The visitors get to observe the fish in a 3D spectrum that is out of this world. This display mechanism is extremely captivating, first time visitors are ever left speechless. The under-tank is fashioned in this manner to ensure full exposure of the beauty of these incredibly captivating sea creatures.  Here is a video so you can see for yourself just how cool it is.

Most people would easily agree with me that the most exciting thing about the Dallas World Aquarium is the fact that it is built indoors! Harsh weather is not something that you will have to worry about. Whether it is raining or extremely hot outside, it is a guarantee that your visit will go on as planned. Also, you will be pleasantly surprised by the layout displayed here. Some creatures are well hidden in plain sight and others are not the most obvious species that you would expect to see. If you have enough time to walk through the entire aquarium, you will not miss seeing the broad range of penguins, owls and reptiles that are not your common breed. This element of surprise is probably what makes this aquarium very highly recommendable. Try it out this weekend. You will not regret it.

What’s new with the 2016-17 Dallas Mavericks

What’s new with the 2016-17 Dallas Mavericks

The 2016-17 Dallas Mavericks signed small forward Harrison Barnes to a four year max contract worth $22 million per year last July. Barnes left the Golden State Warriors when former MVP Kevin Durant shocked a lot of people and chose the Warriors as the team he will sign with. They also signed another former Warrior in Australian Andrew Bogut which means they have 2/5 of the championship team of the Warriors that won it all two seasons ago. Bogut figures to contribute in the rebounding department so he is someone who can give Dirk Nowitzki a break in terms of going after the rebounds. If that happens, Dirk can just concentrate on his one legged fadeaway jumpers.

Behind the Scenes

The team also made a couple of moves that were hardly noticed. They waived center JaVale McGee and signed forward Dwight Powell. In a trade that barely made the news, they traded forward Jeremy Evans and center Emir Preldzic and cash for center Stanko Barac. They also signed Jahleel Cousins last October 17 but waived him just 5 days later. As a player, that would really hurt because you just achieved your dream only to have it taken away from you in an instant. They also signed two-time MVP Stephen Curry’s younger brother Seth Curry in a deal that raised a lot of eyebrows because he hardly contributed for the Sacramento Kings last season.

The Dallas Mavericks also signed starting point guard Deron Williams to a one year contract. He was traded to the Mavericks in the middle of the season last year. He revealed that he wanted to play for the Mavericks all along because that is where his hometown is. He is way past his prime but can still put up huge contributions in a team that looks to make the playoffs.

Back for Another Season

Another player past his prime is star forward Dirk Nowitzki who almost retired during the offseason but he is looking to play for another 2 or 3 more years. He has taken less money so the Mavericks so go out and sign big name free agents. So far, they have missed out on the big names like Dwight Howard and Kevin Durant but they will try again when there are more big names available next offseason. Former coach of the year Rick Carlisle is still calling the shots and that is always good news for the team that is owned by Mark Cuban, one of the most active owners in the league.
